Slow-cooked spiced apple butter with honey, maple syrup, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, and Mexican vanilla extract for a rich, comforting flavor twist. Substitute regular vanilla extract if desired.
Ingredients:
  • 10 pounds apples - peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 0.75 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 0.25 cup sugar-free butter-flavored syrup
  • 0.25 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon Mexican vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 0.5 teaspoon molasses
Instructions:
  • Add the apples to a slow cooker and generously season them with sugar, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, nutmeg, and salt. Cover and cook on High for 2 hours until tender and fragrant.
  • Combine butter-flavored syrup, honey, maple syrup, vanilla extract, lemon juice, and molasses into the apple mixture. Use a potato masher or fork to mash the apples.
  • Lower the heat to Low, cover, and cook the apple mixture until thickened and dark brown for 9 to 11 hours, stirring often. Uncover and cook for an additional 1 to 2 hours.
