Indulgent mash-up of mac 'n' cheese and cottage pie for a twist on dinnertime classics.
Ingredients:
  • 250.00 ml macaroni
  • 18.20 gm extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 carrot, diced
  • 500g Organic Beef Mince
  • 40.00 ml gravy powder
  • 24.40 gm Worcestershire sauce
  • 20g butter
  • 20.00 ml plain flour
  • 257.50 gm milk
  • 250.00 ml grated pizza cheese
  • 187.50 ml frozen peas, corn and capsicum
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 200C/180C fan-forced. Boil macaroni in salted water according to package instructions, then drain and return to the pan.
  • Heat oil in a deep ovenproof frying pan. Cook onion and carrot until onion softens. Add mince and cook until browned, breaking up any lumps with a wooden spoon.
  • Whisk in savory gravy powder, then introduce vibrant tomatoes and a splash of Worcestershire sauce. Allow the mixture to gently reach a boil before lowering the heat and simmering uncovered for 10 minutes until the sauce thickens to perfection. Finally, delight in the rich aroma as you take it off the heat.
  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt butter until bubbling. Add flour and stir constantly for 1 minute. Slowly pour in milk, stirring until the mixture is smooth. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes until the sauce boils and thickens. Mix in half of the cheese, then season with salt and pepper. Combine the cheese sauce with the macaroni, stirring well.
  • Mix in the frozen vegetables with the mince. Add the macaroni on top, then sprinkle with the remaining cheese. Bake until golden brown, approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Serve and enjoy!
