Sweet and salty maduros - a quick and tasty side or appetizer.
Ingredients:
  • 0.33333334326744 cup vegetable oil, or as needed
  • 2 ripe plantains
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt, or to taste
Instructions:
  • Heat a generous 1/4 inch of oil in a medium skillet over medium heat until it reaches the perfect depth to submerge the plantain slices halfway.
  • Trim off the ends of the plantains. Score the skin of each plantain from end to end, then peel it off. Slice at a slight angle into pieces that are 3/4-inch thick.
  • Fry plantain slices in hot oil until golden brown, about 2 to 4 minutes per side. Drain on paper towel-covered plate to remove excess oil, then season with salt.
