Prepare and freeze versatile make-ahead ground beef in 2-cup portions for easy meal prep. Enjoy quick and delicious meals like chili or shepherd’s pie without the hassle. With this convenient freezer staple, say goodbye to last-minute take-out dinners.
Ingredients:
  • 3 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 1 cup chopped onions (2 medium)
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
Instructions:
  • In a large skillet, sauté beef, onions, and garlic over medium-high heat until browned; drain excess fat. Reduce heat and simmer for an additional 5 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
  • Prepare a rimmed sheet pan with foil and evenly spread the beef onto the foil.
  • Crumble the beef evenly across the pan surface.
  • Chill for approximately 1 hour, stirring occasionally, until solidified.
  • Portion the mixture into quart-sized resealable freezer bags or containers, each holding around 2 cups. Label and store in the freezer for up to 2 months.
