Maple walnut cookies - irresistibly chewy and sweet!
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon maple syrup (Grade B preferably)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions:
  • Cream together the butter and sugar with an electric mixer on medium speed for about three minutes, or until the mixture becomes light and fluffy.
  • Mix in the vanilla extract and egg until fully combined, followed by adding the maple syrup and mixing until well incorporated.
  • Whisk the flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. Gradually add to the butter mixture, mix until just combined, then gently fold in the walnuts.
  • Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes, covered with plastic wrap.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spoon 1-inch cookie dough balls onto parchment paper-lined cookie sheets.
  • Bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden around the edges. Let them cool on the baking sheet for a minute or two before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
