Indulgent maple cream with spiced apples and a crispy streusel topping - a heavenly dessert! Layer in parfait glasses for a quick and elegant treat. Perfect for using up leftovers in delicious parfaits.
Ingredients:
  • 4 cups Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored and thinly sliced
  • 4 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 5 tablespoons rolled oats
  • 5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 0.25 cup butter, melted
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1.5 cups milk
  • 1 (3.5 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 teaspoon maple flavored extract
  • 1 (9 inch) deep dish pie crust, baked and cooled
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, coat sliced apples with 4 tablespoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 1/4 cup of butter. Saute apples until tender, about 10 to 15 minutes. Let them cool before serving.
  • Prepare the Streusel Topping by combining oatmeal, flour, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon in a medium bowl. Drizzle with 1/4 cup melted butter and mix until it resembles chunky crumbs. Adjust consistency by adding more oatmeal or flour if needed. Spread the crumbs on an ungreased jellyroll pan and bake in a preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring every 8 minutes, until golden brown and crunchy. Transfer to a bowl and let cool.
  • For the Maple Cream Filling: In a medium mixing bowl, whip the cream cheese until airy. Slowly mix in 1 cup of milk, pudding mix, and maple extract. Incorporate the remaining 1/2 cup of milk, and mix until silky. Pour the cream cheese mixture into the pie shell and chill until the apples are cold.
  • Once the apples have cooled, use a slotted spoon to transfer them from the skillet to a bowl. Keep the leftover apple syrup to drizzle over the streusel later. Place the cooled apples on top of the maple cream, then sprinkle the streusel over them. Finally, drizzle the reserved apple syrup over the dessert and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the maple cream to set before serving.
