Maple syrup snow taffy: a sweet and simple winter treat for kids to make on a snowy day.
Ingredients:
  • 1 gallon clean fresh snow
  • 2 cups real maple syrup
  • 15 wooden pop sticks
Instructions:
  • Fill a large bowl or baking dish with fluffy, clean snow. Level the top and chill in the freezer.
  • In a large saucepan, heat maple syrup until boiling. Stir continuously with a wooden spoon over medium-low heat until the syrup dropped into cold water forms a firm ball. Use a candy thermometer to ensure the syrup reaches 235-245 degrees F (112-118 degrees C).
  • Take the snow out of the freezer and place it on the counter. Drizzle approximately 2 tablespoons of syrup per piece over the snow in thin 5-inch lines. Allow the syrup lines to cool and firm up for 3 to 5 seconds. Remove the candy strips from the snow and wrap them around the end of a wooden pop stick to create lollipops. Enjoy while they are still slightly warm.
