Irresistible bacon and walnut cake pops with creamy cream cheese frosting, a crowd-pleasing dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Vanilla Cake Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
  • 10 slices packaged precooked bacon (from 2.1-oz package), crisply cooked, crumbled
  • 2 cups chopped walnuts
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons maple flavor
  • 2/3 cup from 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Cream Cheese Frosting
  • 1 tablespoon real maple syrup
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tubs (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Cream Cheese Frosting
  • 48 paper lollipop sticks
Instructions:
  • 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 13x9-inch pan. 2. Prepare the cake mix according to the box instructions, adding water, oil, and eggs. Then, fold in the bacon, 1 1/4 cups of walnuts, and 2 1/2 teaspoons of maple flavor. Pour the batter into the pan and bake as directed. 3. Once baked, allow the cake to cool completely. Line a cookie sheet with waxed paper. 4. In a large bowl, crumble the cake and mix in 2/3 cup of frosting and the syrup until well combined. 5. Shape the mixture into 1 1/4-inch balls, making about 48 balls in total, and place them on the lined cookie sheet. 6. Freeze the balls until firm, then transfer to the refrigerator for storage.
  • In a large skillet, melt sugar over medium heat until golden and stir constantly. Remove from heat; coat the remaining 3/4 cup walnuts in the sugar mixture. Transfer walnuts to waxed paper to cool. In a large microwavable bowl, microwave 2 containers of frosting until melted, stirring until smooth. Mix in maple flavor. Take a few cake balls out of the refrigerator at a time. Dip a lollipop stick into the melted frosting and insert it into a cake ball. Dip the cake ball into the frosting, tap off excess, and top with sugared nuts.
