Maple Bacon Brussels Sprouts: A quick and tasty side dish option.
Ingredients:
  • 6 slices maple-flavored bacon
  • 1 3/4 lb Brussels sprouts, trimmed, halved (6 cups)
  • 2 shallots, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/3 cup real maple syrup
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans, toasted
Instructions:
  • Cook bacon in a 12-inch nonstick skillet until crispy; place on paper towels to drain. Crumble bacon and set aside. Add Brussels sprouts and shallots to the skillet with bacon drippings. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until browned.
  • Pour the broth into the skillet and bring it to a boil. Lower the heat, cover, and let it simmer for 5 to 10 minutes. Stir in the syrup, salt, and pepper. Continue cooking uncovered over medium-high heat for 2 to 4 minutes, stirring frequently, until the Brussels sprouts are nicely glazed. Top with crispy bacon and crunchy pecans before serving.
