Fall-inspired cozy cookies from the Betty Crocker cookbook - comforting and simple.
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon maple extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 1/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2/3 cup white sparkling decorating sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat brown sugar, butter, and maple extract until fluffy; scrape down the sides of the bowl. Add eggs one at a time, mixing until smooth. Gradually mix in flour, baking powder, baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and salt on low speed until fully combined.
  • Combine 1 teaspoon cinnamon, decorating sugar, and nutmeg in a small bowl. Roll dough into 1 1/2-inch balls, then coat each ball by rolling in the sugar mixture. Space balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake the cookies until lightly browned around the edges, for about 8 to 10 minutes. Let them cool for 2 minutes, then transfer to cooling racks. Allow the cookies to cool completely before serving.
