Sear beef with tangy mustard for a zesty steak.
Ingredients:
  • 4 1-inch thick rib-eye steaks
  • 0.25 cup grill seasoning (such as Montreal Steak Seasoning®)
  • 0.5 cup grainy French mustard (such as Moutarde de Meaux®)
  • 1 cup diced red onion, divided
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Instructions:
  • Score both sides of the steak in a diamond pattern by making shallow, diagonal cuts. Season with grill seasoning, then brush each side with mustard. Press half of the red onions onto one side of the steak covered in mustard.
  • Heat butter in a large skillet over high heat until melted. Add steaks to the skillet with the onion-side down. Spread the remaining onions evenly over the mustard on the top side of each steak. Cook steaks for 4 to 5 minutes per side until browned on the outside and red in the center. The internal temperature should reach 125 degrees F (52 degrees C) for rare. Remove steaks from the skillet and let them rest for 5 minutes before serving.
