Cheesy baked meatball pasta casserole, a delicious twist on classic lasagna.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (16 ounce) package ziti pasta
  • 1.5 pounds frozen cooked meatballs, thawed
  • 2 (28 ounce) jars prepared marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 0.67 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
Instructions:
  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add ziti and cook for 3 minutes less than the package instructions recommend, around 8 minutes. Drain pasta.
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and gently grease a 13x9 inch baking dish.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, sizzle meatballs until golden all around, roughly 5 minutes. Toss in marinara sauce and ricotta cheese; stir to blend. Mix in cooked pasta. Sprinkle some Italian seasoning and garlic powder.
  • Begin by spreading a layer of sauce without meatballs at the bottom of the baking dish. Sprinkle 1 cup of mozzarella cheese over the sauce. Next, layer the sauce with meatballs and sprinkle 1/3 cup of Parmesan cheese on top. Add another layer of 1 cup of mozzarella cheese. Finish with the remaining sauce and meatballs, then top with the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese and 1/3 cup of Parmesan cheese. Finally, cover the baking dish with aluminum foil. Enjoy your delicious dish!
  • Bake until the cheese is gooey and bubbly, for 20-30 minutes in the preheated oven.
  • Uncover and bake until the cheese is golden brown, for about 10 to 20 minutes. Then, savor your delicious dish!
