Ingredients:
  • 250g veal mince
  • 250g pork mince
  • 125.00 ml uncooked risoni (see note)
  • 1 brown onion, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme leaves
  • 700g Italian passata (or sugocasa) sauce (see note)
  • 250.00 ml mozzarella cheese, grated
  • 125.00 ml parmesan cheese, finely grated
  • dressed salad leaves, to serve
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 180°C. In a large bowl, mix together veal and pork mince, risoni, onion, garlic, basil, thyme, salt, and pepper until fully combined.
  • Form tablespoon-sized portions of the mixture into neat balls. Arrange the balls in a single layer in a greased 26cm x 19cm ceramic ovenproof dish.
  • Pour the passata sauce over the meatballs and generously sprinkle with cheeses. Bake for 45-55 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through and the cheese is beautifully golden. Enjoy with a side of fresh salad.
