Ingredients:
  • 500g veal mince
  • 1 brown onion, coarsely grated
  • 1 carrot, coarsely grated
  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 36.40 gm olive oil
  • 800g can diced tomatoes
  • 55g (1/4 cup) tomato paste
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
Instructions:
  • In a bowl, combine the mince, onion, carrot, and 2 garlic cloves. Use your hands to mix thoroughly. Form mixture into 4cm diameter balls.
  • In a hot frying pan, sizzle the first batch of meatballs until golden brown all around, about 3-4 minutes. Transfer to a plate before giving the rest of the meatballs the same treatment.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, bring together tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, and the rest of the garlic to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer gently, stirring occasionally, for about 10 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens.
  • Simmer meatballs in sauce on low heat for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until fully cooked.
