Classic Italian-style meatballs cooked in a savory tomato sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup instant rice
  • 1 white onion, chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 (28 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 28 fluid ounces water
Instructions:
  • Combine ground beef, rice, onion, and egg in a bowl, then use your hands to shape into tennis ball-sized balls.
  • Combine tomato sauce and water in a large pot and bring to a boil. Carefully place meatballs in the sauce, cover the pot, and simmer on medium-low heat.
  • Cook the meatballs until they are fully cooked through, approximately 35 minutes. Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure they have reached an internal temperature of 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).
  • Arrange the meatballs on a plate and gently slice them in half. Drizzle sauce over the meatballs before serving.
