Savory casserole with a delicious blend of ground beef, sausage, Cheddar cheese, and green bell peppers for a flavor reminiscent of stuffed peppers with less effort.
Ingredients:
  • 6 small green bell peppers, chopped
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 pound ground Italian sausage
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pinch dried oregano, or to taste
  • 1 pinch garlic powder, or to taste
  • 2 (14.5 ounce) cans diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup cooked white rice
  • 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed tomato soup
  • 0.25 (10.75 ounce) can water
  • 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) for a perfect bake.
  • In a large pot over medium heat, melt butter. Add green bell peppers, onion, and garlic; cook and stir until slightly soft, about 2 minutes. Stir in sausage and ground beef; cook until crumbly and browned, about 10-12 minutes, stirring often. Drain grease, then season with salt, black pepper, oregano, and garlic powder.
  • Combine diced tomatoes, rice, tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce with the meat mixture. Simmer until heated through, about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Transfer to a large baking dish.
  • Whisk together tomato soup and water until smooth, then pour over meat mixture. Top with a generous amount of Cheddar cheese.
  • Bake in the hot oven until the casserole is heated through and the Cheddar cheese is golden brown and bubbling, approximately 30 minutes.
