Mexican Atole: Thick hot drink made with masa harina, cinnamon, and sweet piloncillo/brown sugar.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup masa (corn flour)
  • 5 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 5 tablespoons piloncillo, brown sugar cones
Instructions:
  • In a blender, combine masa, water or milk, cinnamon, and piloncillo. Blend until smooth, approximately 3 minutes.
  • Transfer the blended mixture to a saucepan and bring to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring continuously. Reduce heat to low once boiling and whisk for 5 minutes.
  • Take the pan off the heat, mix in the vanilla, then pour into mugs and enjoy hot.
