Make adorable chocolate carrot treats for Easter with this recipe.
Ingredients:
  • 6 mini waffle cones
  • 180g block dark chocolate, chopped
  • 165.00 ml mini marshmallows
  • 50g packet Smarties
  • 375.00 ml Wilton orange candy melts (see note)
  • 13.80 gm vegetable oil (optional)
  • 62.50 ml orange dollar sprinkles
  • 3 green fruit sticks, halved crossways
Instructions:
  • Insert each cone into a tall glass and stabilize them by using scrunched paper towels. Put chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and heat until melted and smooth, stirring every 30 seconds. Allow to cool for 5 minutes, then mix in marshmallows and Smarties. Fill each cone with 2 tablespoons of the chocolate mixture. Chill in the fridge for 1 hour until firm.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt 1 cup of candy melts uncovered on MEDIUM (50%) power, stirring every 30 seconds with a metal spoon until smooth (about 2 minutes). Add 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil if needed for a smooth consistency. Use a palette knife to coat the outside of each cone with the candy mixture. Place cones upside-down on a wire rack over a tray, then sprinkle with sprinkles. Allow to set for 30 minutes.
  • Place a fruit stick on a chopping board. Make cuts along the grooves, starting 3cm in at one end, to form 6 x 3cm long strips without cutting all the way through. Gently separate the strips to create stalks. Repeat with the remaining fruit sticks and place them in tall glasses to stand upright. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the remaining candy melts uncovered on MEDIUM (50%) for 1 minute, stirring halfway through, until smooth. Add 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil if needed to create a smooth mixture. Transfer the mixture into a snap-lock bag, snip off a corner, and pipe it into the top of each cone. Press a fruit stick piece into the center of each cone to create a stalk. Allow it to set for 30 minutes before serving.
