Spread love with homemade conversation-heart sugar cookies, perfect for Valentine's Day gifting. Personalize with colorful messages for friends and family or your special someone.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pouch (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ Sugar Cookie Mix
  • Flour, butter and egg called for on cookie mix pouch for cutout cookies
  • 2 tubs (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Vanilla Frosting
  • Pink, purple, yellow, green and orange food colors
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. Combine cookie mix, flour, butter, and egg in a medium bowl and mix until a soft dough forms.
  • Roll the dough to 1/4 inch thickness on a floured surface. Use a 1-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out approximately 100 cookies, re-rolling the dough as needed. Place the cookies 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 6 to 8 minutes until edges are set. Let them cool on the cookie sheet for 1 minute, then transfer to cooling racks. Allow them to cool completely, for about 15 minutes.
  • Divide frosting into 6 small bowls, each with approximately 1/3 cup. Add food coloring to create a unique color for each bowl, keeping one bowl white.
  • Heat one color of frosting in a small microwave-safe bowl uncovered on High for 8 to 10 seconds, or until it reaches a pourable consistency.
  • With 2 forks, coat each cookie in melted frosting, ensuring full coverage and allowing any extra frosting to drip off. Transfer to a cooling rack over waxed paper. Repeat for all cookies with different colored frostings. Allow cookies to set for at least 3 hours at room temperature. Store loosely covered at room temperature.
