Transform ordinary salmon into a tantalizing Asian-inspired dish with a simple, flavorful marinade.
Ingredients:
  • 0.25 cup sake
  • 0.25 cup miso paste
  • 0.25 cup mirin (Japanese sweet wine)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 4 (6 ounce) salmon fillets
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
Instructions:
  • Combine sake, miso paste, mirin, soy sauce, and brown sugar in a baking dish. Marinate salmon for 5 minutes before flipping to coat. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.
  • Allow the salmon to come to room temperature for approximately 15 minutes. Then, remove the salmon from the marinade, gently shake off any excess marinade, and discard the rest.
  • Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place the salmon in the skillet and cook until it easily flakes with a fork, about 4 minutes per side. Transfer to a plate and top with fresh basil for an extra burst of flavor.
