Spicy marinated sirloin strips cooked with green onions, perfect over rice or fried noodles.
Ingredients:
  • 2 pounds boneless sirloin tip roast
  • 0.5 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons dry sherry
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons crushed red pepper
  • 5 whole dried red chile peppers
  • 0.375 cup vegetable oil, divided
  • 4 bunches green onions, cut into 2 inch pieces
Instructions:
  • Partially freeze the roast to make slicing easier. Cut the roast into 3x1/2 inch strips and set aside.
  • Mix soy sauce, sherry, sesame oil, cornstarch, brown sugar, crushed red pepper, and whole chile peppers in a large bowl. Add beef, ensuring it is well coated. Refrigerate, covered, for 20-30 minutes.
  • In a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat, heat 2 tablespoons of oil. Add green onions to the hot oil, cover, and cook on low heat for 6 minutes until tender. Set aside cooked green onions.
  • In the same skillet or wok, heat the remaining 1/4 cup of oil over medium-high heat. Cook the beef mixture for 5 minutes, until fully cooked. Add the green onions back to the pan and saute for 30 seconds until heated through.
