Spicy beef stir-fry with carrots and green onions, served over fluffy rice for a satisfying meal.
Ingredients:
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 pound beef round steak, cut into thin strips
  • 0.75 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2.5 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 0.5 teaspoon white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 2 carrots, thinly sliced
  • 1 bunch green onions, cut into 2 inch pieces
Instructions:
  • Toast sesame seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat for 1 to 2 minutes until golden brown; then, set them aside.
  • Combine 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1 tablespoon cornstarch, and minced garlic in a bowl. Add beef strips and marinate for at least 10 minutes.
  • Combine water, soy sauce, cornstarch, sugar, sesame seeds, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl; set aside.
  • Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a wok or skillet over high heat. Sear beef for 1 minute; then set aside. Add the remaining tablespoon of oil and saute carrots and white part of green onions for 2 minutes. Toss in green parts of the green onion for 1 minute. Mix in sesame seed mixture and beef. Cook until sauce thickens and boils.
