Elevate pita bread with fresh basil and vibrant vegetables for a quick and delicious flatbread.
Ingredients:
  • 2 pita breads (6 inches in diameter)
  • 2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms (5 ounces)
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil leaves or 2 teaspoons dried basil leaves
  • 1 cup finely shredded reduced-fat mozzarella cheese (4 ounces)
  • 1 tablespoon grated fat-free Parmesan cheese topping
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 425°F. Carefully cut each pita bread into 2 rounds. Arrange them, cut sides up, on a baking sheet. Spread mushrooms, onion, and bell pepper on top. Sprinkle with basil and a blend of cheeses.
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until the cheese is beautifully melted, then slice each round into 8 delicious wedges.
