Delicious and versatile cube steak recipe, perfect for a crowd. Serve over rice or potatoes.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 pound cube steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour for coating
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 (1 ounce) envelope dry onion soup mix
  • 2 cups water, or as needed
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • garlic salt to taste
Instructions:
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, sizzle the oil until shimmering. Dredge cube steak pieces in flour, ensuring to shake off any extra. Sear steak in the hot oil until golden on both sides and juices develop in the pan. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the steak to a resting spot.
  • Combine the onion soup mix and 1 tablespoon of flour, then sprinkle into the skillet. Sauté until it turns golden brown. Slowly incorporate water to create a flavorful gravy. Add the cube steak back to the pan, season with salt, pepper, and garlic salt. Cover and simmer on low for approximately 1 hour.
