Quick and easy Navajo fry bread made with common pantry ingredients, perfect as a versatile main dish or dessert drizzled with honey.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 1 cup vegetable oil for frying, or as needed
  • 1 cup unbleached flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon powdered milk
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
  • Heat oil in a heavy skillet until it reaches 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In a large bowl, combine sifted flour, baking powder, powdered milk, and salt. Add water to the mixture and stir until a sticky dough forms. Shape the dough into a ball using floured hands.
  • Place the dough in the hot oil and fry until golden brown on each side for 3 to 4 minutes. Then, transfer the fry bread to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
