Savory beef tips seared with onions in a flavorful sauce for a simple weeknight meal.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 pound beef stew meat, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 0.5 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 0.25 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic, or more to taste
  • 2 cubes beef bouillon
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch, or as needed
Instructions:
  • In a glass or ceramic bowl, combine red wine vinegar, 2 teaspoons cornstarch, kosher salt, and pepper and whisk until smooth. Add beef to the mixture, coat well, and let marinate for at least 20 minutes. Discard the marinade before cooking the beef.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, sauté beef and onion in vegetable oil until the beef is browned and the onions are soft and translucent, about 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Combine water, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, garlic, and beef bouillon in a pot over medium-high heat. Simmer until bouillon dissolves, around 10 minutes. Take out about 1/4 cup of the hot broth and whisk in cornstarch until dissolved. Pour this mixture back into the pot and continue cooking until thickened, about 5 minutes.
  • Combine the beef and onion mixture with any pan juices into the broth mixture. Simmer until heated through, about 2 to 3 minutes.
