Decadent Nutella-filled dough bites - a must try for dessert lovers!
Ingredients:
  • 582.50 ml plain flour, plus extra for dusting
  • 42.90 gm cocoa powder
  • 53.75 gm caster sugar
  • 1 tsp dried yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 257.50 gm milk, warmed
  • 60g butter, softened
  • 150.00 gm Nutella
  • 437.50 gm boiling water
  • 90.00 gm brown sugar
  • Extra 10.00 gm cocoa powder
  • Extra 48.00 gm Nutella
  • Icing sugar mixture, to serve
  • 300ml thickened cream, to serve
Instructions:
  • Mix flour, cocoa, caster sugar, and yeast in an electric mixer with a dough hook. Add egg, milk, and butter. Knead on low speed until combined, then increase speed to medium and knead for 5 minutes until a soft, sticky dough forms. Transfer to a lightly oiled bowl, cover with greased plastic wrap, and set aside in a warm place for 1 hour until dough doubles in size.
  • Unwrap dough, deflate it gently, and transfer to a floured surface. Knead for 2 minutes. Divide dough into 24 equal parts and shape each into a ball. Flatten a ball into an 8cm round. Add a teaspoon of Nutella in the center. Fold dough over the filling, twist, and seal tightly. Place seam-side down in a greased 18cm x 28cm baking dish. Repeat with remaining dough balls. Cover and let rise in a warm spot for 20 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to 180C/160C fan-forced while you prepare the rest of the recipe.
  • 1. Prepare a baking tray with sides. In a heatproof jug, mix boiling water, brown sugar, extra cocoa, and Nutella until Nutella is melted. Pour the mixture over the dough balls. Bake for 35-40 minutes until bread sounds hollow when tapped and sauce bubbles around the edges of the dish. Let it stand for 2 minutes, then dust with icing sugar and serve with cream.
