Old-Fashioned Oven Beef Stew

Quick and effortless beef stew ready in 15 minutes, then slow cooks to perfection for hours.
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 lb beef stew meat
  • 3 tablespoons Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 2 bags (1 lb each) frozen vegetables for stew
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) Muir Glen™ diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 2 cans (10 oz each) condensed beef consommé
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 dried bay leaves
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 325°F. Coat beef with flour in a Dutch oven or baking dish, then mix in the frozen vegetables.
  • Combine the rest of the ingredients in a large bowl, then pour over the beef and vegetables, gently stirring until everything is well mixed.
  • Cover the dish and bake for 3 hours and 30 minutes to 4 hours, or until the beef is tender. Remember to remove the bay leaves before serving.
