Indulgent chocolate orange brownies - ideal for adult Halloween soirees or any occasion craving a tantalizing citrus-chocolate fusion.
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Dark Chocolate Fudge Brownie Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and egg called for on brownie mix box
  • 1 package (3 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon frozen (thawed) orange juice concentrate
  • Yellow food color
  • Red food color
  • 1/3 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 teaspoons shortening
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan) and grease only the bottom of an 8-inch or 9-inch square pan with cooking spray or shortening. For easy cutting, line the pan with foil, then grease only the foil on the bottom. Follow the brownie mix instructions, and allow the brownies to cool completely.
  • Combine cream cheese, powdered sugar, orange juice, 2 drops yellow food color, and 1 drop red food color until creamy and smooth; spread generously over brownies.
  • Combine chocolate chips and shortening in a small microwavable bowl. Microwave uncovered on Medium (50%) for about 2 minutes or until the mixture is smooth when stirred. Drizzle the mixture over the brownies and refrigerate for approximately 30 minutes, or until the cream cheese and chocolate have set.
  • Cut the 24 brownies into 4 rows by 6 rows, then cover and refrigerate any leftover brownies.
