Try this deliciously moist oven-fried halibut using a buttermilk marinade similar to my popular oven-fried chicken recipe. Simply swap out the main ingredient and adjust the oven temperature for a tasty twist!
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 4 (3/4 inch thick) halibut fillets
  • 1 (8 ounce) package seasoned rye crackers
  • 2 tablespoons Greek seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 0.5 cup butter, melted
Instructions:
  • Place a large resealable plastic bag in a bowl. Combine buttermilk, salt, and halibut fillets in the bag and seal it. Refrigerate for 4 hours up to 1 day.
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 250°F (120°C).
  • Add half of the crackers and half of the Greek seasoning to a blender. Pulse until you achieve fine crumbs. Transfer the mixture to a shallow bowl. Repeat the process with the remaining crackers and Greek seasoning. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and water.
  • Take the halibut out of the bag, discarding the marinade. Dip the fish into the egg, then coat evenly with crumbs. Lay the fillets in a lightly greased 9x13 inch baking dish without letting them touch. Finish by drizzling butter over the fish.
  • Roast in the oven, without a cover, until the fish turns opaque and easily flakes with a fork, approximately 45 minutes.
