Transform chicken into succulent, crispy perfection with buttermilk, flour, and honey-barbecue sauce for the ultimate backyard barbecue star.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 3- to 3 1/2-lb cut-up broiler-fryer chicken
  • Cooking spray
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Pour buttermilk into a large shallow dish. In a large resealable plastic bag, combine flour, salt, and pepper. Dip each chicken piece in buttermilk, then coat in the flour mixture by shaking in the bag. Arrange chicken in a single layer, skin side down, in an ungreased 15x10x1-inch pan. Generously spray chicken with cooking spray, then flip and spray the other sides.
  • Bake without covering for 45 to 50 minutes until the chicken is crispy and the juices run clear when the thickest pieces are cut.
  • In a small bowl, combine barbecue sauce and honey. Brush chicken with the sauce mixture just before serving.
