Indulge in a gourmet pan-seared tuna for a cozy night in - a restaurant-quality meal made simple for 1 or 2. Perfect for any weeknight!
Ingredients:
  • 9.20 gm olive oil
  • 4 (about 180g each and 2cm-2.5cm-thick) tuna steaks
  • Salt & freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 lemon, cut into wedges
  • Crusty bread (optional), to serve
  • Salad, to serve
  • 165.00 ml loosely packed chopped fresh continental parsley
  • 50.00 ml capers, drained
  • 6 anchovies, drained on paper towel
  • 23.00 gm extra virgin olive oil
  • 21.00 gm fresh lemon juice
Instructions:
  • For the salsa verde, finely chop parsley, capers, and anchovies on a clean chopping board until well combined. Transfer to a bowl and mix in olive oil and lemon juice. Set aside. Brush both sides of the tuna steaks evenly with olive oil using a pastry brush. Season with salt and pepper right before cooking to prevent moisture loss.
  • Prepare a heavy-based non-stick frying pan over medium-high heat. Sear tuna steaks for 1 1/2-2 minutes until they change color underneath, ensuring they stay moist and flavorful.
  • - Cook the tuna for 1 1/2-2 minutes per side until it changes color for medium-rare doneness. Let it rest for 1-2 minutes before serving. For medium doneness, cook for 2-2 1/2 minutes per side. If you prefer rare tuna, sear each side for 45 seconds over high heat, then rest for 1-2 minutes before serving.
  • Serve the tuna alongside salsa verde and a lemon wedge, with the option to add a side of salad and crusty bread.
