Fresh strawberry sauce over creamy molded panna cotta for a decadent Italian treat.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 cups milk
  • 1 (.25 ounce) envelope unflavored gelatin
  • 1.5 cups whipping cream
  • 0.25 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 quart fresh strawberries, quartered
Instructions:
  • In a bowl, gently pour the milk and sprinkle the gelatin on top. Let it rest for about 5 minutes to soften.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, mix the cream and 1/4 cup sugar. Stir in the gelatin mixture until completely dissolved, about 3 minutes. Add the vanilla extract. Evenly pour the mixture into ramekins, cover, and chill for at least 4 hours.
  • For the strawberry sauce, blend strawberries, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, 1/4 cup sugar, and water in a saucepan over medium heat. Muddle the strawberries with a potato masher as it cooks. Let the sauce simmer until sugar dissolves and it thickens, around 10 minutes. Allow it to cool.
  • Take the chilled ramekins out of the refrigerator right before serving. Dip the cups in warm water to release the custard easily. Gently slide a knife around the edges of each ramekin to unmold the dessert onto a plate. Top the panna cotta with strawberry sauce before serving.
