Spicy jalapeno popper-inspired cheese balls with panko crust, served with sour cream and chives.
Ingredients:
  • 5 fresh jalapeno peppers, seeded and chopped
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 0.33333334326744 cup JIF® Creamy Peanut Butter
  • 2 tablespoons Crosse & Blackwell® Major Grey's Chutney
  • 0.5 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 0.5 cup Pillsbury BEST® All Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup plain panko bread crumbs
  • Crisco® Pure Peanut Oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3 tablespoons minced fresh chives
Instructions:
  • Blend jalapenos, cheese, peanut butter, chutney, and Cajun seasoning in a medium bowl. Roll into 1/2-inch round balls.
  • Take three small bowls and place the egg in one, the flour in another, and the breadcrumbs in the third. Coat each ball first in flour, then in egg, and finally in breadcrumbs. Chill the coated balls on a baking sheet for 1 hour.
  • In a 6-quart saucepan, heat 2 inches of oil to 350 degrees F. Fry the poppers for 1 1/2-2 minutes each until they are golden brown. Drain on a paper towel and season with salt.
  • Mix sour cream with fresh chopped chives. Enjoy with poppers.
