Decadent double marbled peanut butter chocolate cake.
Ingredients:
  • 2 1/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1 1/4 cups milk
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened baking cocoa
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 cup hot fudge topping, if desired
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease and lightly flour a 13x9-inch pan, two 9-inch round cake pans, or three 8-inch round cake pans. In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat flour, granulated sugar, 1/2 cup peanut butter, 1 1/4 cups milk, baking powder, salt, vanilla, and eggs on low speed for 30 seconds, scraping the bowl constantly. Increase speed to high and beat for 3 minutes, scraping the bowl occasionally.
  • Transfer two-thirds of the batter, roughly 3 cups, into the pan(s). Mix cocoa and baking soda into the remaining batter. Spoon chocolate batter by the tablespoonfuls over the peanut butter batter in a random pattern. Use a knife to create marbled patterns by swirling in S-shapes. Rotate the pan a quarter turn and repeat the marbling process.
  • Bake in a 13x9-inch pan for 40 to 45 minutes, 9-inch rounds for 30 to 35 minutes, or 8-inch rounds for 20 to 25 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean or the cake springs back when touched lightly. Let the 13x9-inch cake cool in the pan on a rack, and the rounds cool for 10 minutes before removing from the pans to cool completely on a rack for about 1 hour.
  • Combine powdered sugar and butter in a medium bowl. Add vanilla, 1/4 cup milk, and 1/4 cup peanut butter, then beat until smooth. Spread the frosting over a 13x9-inch cake or between cake rounds. Drop hot fudge topping by teaspoonfuls randomly over the frosting, then use a knife to create a marbled design with S-shaped curves.
