Pecan Pie Supreme Brownies

Decadent fudgy brownies infused with the flavors of classic pecan pie.
Ingredients:
  • 1 box (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Delights Supreme Original Brownie Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and egg called for on brownie mix box
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped pecans
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan). Line a 9-inch square pan with foil, leaving some hanging over the edges. Grease the pan with shortening or cooking spray. Prepare brownie batter according to box instructions and spread it in the pan.
  • Bake for 28 to 31 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted 2 inches from the side of the pan comes out nearly clean.
  • In a small saucepan, gently melt butter over medium-low heat. Whisk in flour until mixture is silky. Add brown sugar, corn syrup, and 1 egg, stirring until fully combined. Turn up the heat to medium and cook for 2 to 4 minutes, stirring continuously until the mixture starts to simmer. Remove from heat and gently fold in vanilla and pecans.
  • Spread the pecan topping evenly on top of the baked brownie.
  • Bake until golden brown and bubbly around edges, for 13 to 17 minutes. Let cool on a rack for about 2 hours. Use foil to easily lift brownies out of the pan and peel foil off. Cut into 16 squares. Optionally, top each brownie with a half pecan for a finishing touch.
