Boil mixed greens in seasoned broth for a flavorful side dish that pairs perfectly with fried chicken or baked pork chops.
Ingredients:
  • 2 bunches collard greens
  • 2 bunches mustard greens
  • 2 bunches turnip greens
  • 4 cups chicken broth, divided
  • 3 tablespoons salt
  • 0.5 cup cooked real bacon bits
  • 4 cloves garlic, sliced
Instructions:
  • Prepare a chicken broth bath by filling a clean sink with warm water and combining 2 cups of chicken broth with 3 tablespoons of salt. Soak the collard, mustard, and turnip greens in the flavorful bath for 10 minutes to ensure they are clean and ready to use.
  • Transfer the greens into a colander to drain without rinsing them. Dispose of the chicken broth mixture in the sink.
  • Add the remaining 2 cups of chicken broth to a large pot and stir in the greens.
  • Combine vegetable oil, crispy bacon bits, sugar, savory garlic, and a dash of salt and pepper in your pot, then bring to a boil.
  • Simmer gently and cook, stirring here and there, until greens are tender, which should take about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
