Pork Sausage and Cabbage Pitas

Longtime favorite one-pan meal with customizable spice level.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 pounds ground pork sausage
  • 1 medium head cabbage, shredded
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 0.33300000429153 cup sour cream
  • 1 (8 ounce) package pitas, halved
Instructions:
  • In a wok or skillet, cook the pork sausage until browned, then drain and set aside.
  • In a wok or skillet, mix together shredded cabbage, onion, crushed red pepper, sugar, salt, and water. Cover and steam for about 20 minutes until the cabbage is tender, stirring occasionally.
  • Add the pork sausage back to the wok or skillet with the cabbage mixture, then mix in the sour cream thoroughly. Serve the delicious filling inside warm pita bread.
