Elevate your dinner party with perfectly seasoned prime rib using steak seasoning, garlic, and a reliable thermometer.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (5 pound) bone-in beef prime rib roast
  • 2 teaspoons Montreal-style steak seasoning (such as McCormick®)
  • 1 teaspoon chopped garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon mustard powder
Instructions:
  • Arrange the roast with the bone side facing down in a roasting pan.
  • Combine olive oil, steak seasoning, garlic, Italian seasoning, and mustard powder in a small bowl. Spread this flavorful mixture over the roast and let it rest at room temperature for about 45 minutes.
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 450°F (230°C).
  • Roast in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, then check the doneness by inserting a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the roast, away from the bone.
  • Lower oven temperature to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C. Cook to preferred doneness or until internal temperature reaches 145 degrees F (65 degrees C), around 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Remove from oven, cover with foil, and let rest in a warm place for 10 to 15 minutes before slicing.
