Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Yellow Cake Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
  • Betty Crocker™ red gel food color
  • Betty Crocker™ yellow gel food color
  • 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Vanilla Frosting
  • 2/3 cup from 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Chocolate Frosting
  • Betty Crocker™ candy sprinkles and decors
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (or 325°F for dark or nonstick pans) and line 24 muffin cups with paper baking cups. Prepare the cake mix as instructed on the box to make 24 cupcakes. Let the cupcakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely for about 30 minutes.
  • Mix 5 drops of red food color and 5 drops of yellow food color into vanilla frosting until a vibrant orange color forms; set aside.
  • Place 24 cupcakes on a large serving tray or cookie sheet lined with foil, following the diagram. Use chocolate frosting to frost the center body and antennae of the butterfly. Ensure to push cupcakes together slightly to frost the entire body and antennae. Frost the remaining cupcakes with orange frosting to create the wings, pushing them together slightly to frost the entire wings. Optionally, pipe an outline on the wings with chocolate frosting. Decorate the butterfly with candies and sugar. Store the butterfly loosely covered.
