Satisfying pumpkin and caramel bars with a hint of sea salt for a burst of flavor.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup caramel topping
  • 1 teaspoon coarse sea salt
  • 2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon table salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/4 cups packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix)
  • Powdered sugar, if desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and generously coat a 9-inch square pan with cooking spray.
  • Combine caramel topping and sea salt in a small bowl; set aside. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, table salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. In a large bowl, beat butter and brown sugar with an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy for about 2 minutes. Add egg, vanilla, and pumpkin; mix until well blended. Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing just until combined. Spread half of the batter in the pan.
  • Bake for 10 minutes until partially baked, then drizzle 3/4 cup of caramel topping over crust. Spread remaining batter on top.
  • Continue baking for an additional 30-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow it to cool completely in the pan on a cooling rack for approximately 1 hour. Cut the baked goods into 4 rows by 4 rows, sprinkle with powdered sugar, and drizzle with the remaining caramel topping.
