Delicious Pumpkin Spice Apple Upside-Down Cake captures the essence of fall with pumpkin, apples, and warm spices. The enticing aroma will fill your home as it bakes.
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 cups peeled, 1/2-inch sliced apples (2 medium)
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Yellow Cake Mix
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • Caramel sauce
  • Sweetened whipped cream
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (or 325°F for dark or nonstick pans). Grease the bottom and sides of a 9x13” cake pan with cooking spray and place a parchment paper on the bottom.
  • Combine melted butter, brown sugar, and water in the cake pan until fully mixed. Layer apple slices over the brown sugar mixture and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes to beat the Cake ingredients, scraping the bowl occasionally. Spread the cake batter over the apple slices.
  • Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Gently run a knife around the sides of the pans to release the cakes. Allow to cool for 5-10 minutes. Invert a heatproof serving plate over the pan, flip it over, and remove the pan.
  • Enjoy while still warm, topped with luscious whipped cream or drizzled with decadent caramel sauce, if desired.
