Golden pumpkin spice scones with a sweet, spiced glaze - a delightful fall treat!
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 0.5 cup pumpkin puree
  • 7 tablespoons light brown sugar, packed
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 pinch ground allspice
  • 1 pinch ground ginger
  • 1 pinch ground cloves
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) and prepare a large baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, blend flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, and ginger. Use your hands to mix in the butter until it resembles coarse bread crumbs.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together pumpkin, brown sugar, cream, and egg. Gently fold this mixture into the flour until all the dry bits are well combined.
  • Shape the mixture into a ball with your hands and transfer it to a lightly floured surface. Flatten into a circle about 1 to 1 1/2 inches thick. Smooth any cracks by gently pressing the dough with your palm.
  • Coat a large, sharp knife with flour, then slice the dough into 6 triangles. Use the knife to easily transfer each triangle to the baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 12-16 minutes until scones are lightly browned. Cool on a wire rack.
  • As the scones cool, combine confectioners' sugar, milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ginger, and cloves in a small bowl to make the glaze. Drizzle over warm scones.
