Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a vibrant tube-shaped rainbow cake recipe.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour, or as needed
  • 1 package white cake mix
  • 1 (1 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 4 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 0.5 cup butter, melted
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • 1 drop red paste food coloring, or as needed
  • 1 drop purple gel food coloring, or as needed
  • 1 drop blue paste food coloring, or as needed
  • 1 drop green paste food coloring, or as needed
  • 1 drop yellow paste food coloring, or as needed
  • 1 drop orange paste food coloring, or as needed
  • 1 (16 ounce) package prepared chocolate frosting
  • 0.25 cup rainbow sprinkles, or as needed
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) while preparing your 10-cup fluted tube pan by greasing and flouring it.
  • Mix together cake mix, pudding mix, eggs, sour cream, butter, water, and sugar in a bowl until ingredients are just combined. Increase speed to medium-high and beat for 1 minute until batter is thick. Separate batter evenly into 6 bowls and add food coloring paste to each bowl for desired colors. Colors will intensify when baked.
  • Layer red batter on the bottom of the pan, then add purple, blue, green, yellow, and orange batters on top in that order, creating colorful layers. Gently tap the pan on the counter 3 times to settle the batter evenly.
  • Bake in the center of the oven until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean and the top is lightly golden, 35 to 45 minutes. Avoid overbaking.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, gently transfer the cake onto a plate and let it cool completely before frosting, for about 1 hour.
  • Cover cake with luscious frosting and sprinkle with vibrant rainbow sprinkles for a delightful finish.
