Homemade jam tarts: Simple, budget-friendly, and delightful for a fun baking activity with kids.
Ingredients:
  • 250 g plain flour plus extra for dusting
  • 250 g icing sugar
  • 125 g unsalted butter softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 orange or lemon
  • a splash of milk
  • 30 heaped teaspoons of your favourite jams, curds, marmalades and jellies
Instructions:
  • Mix flour, sugar, butter, and a pinch of sea salt in a food processor until crumbly. Add egg, citrus zest, and a splash of milk, then pulse until combined. Wrap dough in clingfilm and chill for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 180°C/350°F/gas 4. Roll out pastry to 0.5cm thick on a floured surface. Cut out rounds and press into tart trays. Fill with assorted jams. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden and bubbly. Cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
