Whip up a zesty homemade ranchero sauce in no time to elevate your grilled chicken or enjoy as a tasty salsa.
Ingredients:
  • 1 slice bacon
  • 0.5 onion, chopped
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can whole peeled tomatoes, drained and chopped
  • 0.25 (6.5 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 0.25 cup chopped fresh cilantro, or to taste
  • 0.5 jalapeno pepper, chopped, or to taste
Instructions:
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook bacon until slightly browned and grease forms, about 5 minutes. Add onion and cook in bacon grease until transparent, 5 to 10 minutes. Remove bacon, drain on paper towels, and crumble.
  • Combine chopped tomatoes, tomato sauce, fresh cilantro, sliced jalapeño pepper, crumbled bacon, salt, and black pepper with the onions in the skillet. Simmer for about 15 minutes to meld flavors.
