Master homemade onion jam, a versatile condiment ideal for enhancing grilled meats, sausages, and sandwiches.
Ingredients:
  • 80g butter
  • 5 medium (about 900g) red onions, halved, thinly sliced
  • Pinch of salt
  • 100g (1/2 cup, firmly packed) brown sugar
  • 185ml (3/4 cup) red wine vinegar
Instructions:
  • In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, melt the butter until foamy. Stir in the onion and salt, cooking for 15 minutes until tender.
  • Stir in the sugar and cook for about 5 minutes until it dissolves. Pour in the red wine vinegar and bring to a boil. Simmer on low, uncovered, for 20 minutes until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and serve right away.
