Transform red velvet cake with a pop of red food color and easy cake mix for a foolproof, moist, and delicious treat.
Ingredients:
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • 1 bottle (1 oz) red food color
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Delights Super Moist™ German Chocolate Cake Mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened baking cocoa
  • 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Cream Cheese Frosting
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans) and line 24 regular-size muffin cups with paper baking cups. In a small bowl, mix 1 teaspoon of water with 3 to 4 drops of red food color to create paint; set aside.
  • In a large bowl, mix cake mix, 1 cup water, oil, eggs, cocoa, and remaining food color from the bottle using an electric mixer. Start on low speed for 30 seconds, then switch to medium speed for 2 minutes, scraping the bowl occasionally. Divide the batter evenly among the muffin cups.
  • Follow the box instructions to bake the cupcakes and allow them to cool completely.
  • Top the cupcakes with a generous layer of frosting. Use a fine-tip brush to decorate the cupcakes with red food color paint, creating a beautiful swirling design. Store the cupcakes loosely covered at room temperature.
