Mexican oatmeal drink "agua de avena": Blend oats with cinnamon and milk for a refreshing twist on horchata.
Ingredients:
  • 8 cups water, divided
  • 1 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions:
  • In a blender, mix 5 cups of water, quick-cooking oats, and a cinnamon stick until smooth, for about 1 minute.
  • Strain the oat mixture, saving the liquid in a pitcher and keeping the solids. Pour the leftover water over the solids in the strainer into the pitcher. Stir in sugar and vanilla extract. Chill in the fridge for about 1 hour before serving.
