Rich hot chocolate with Italian shortbread

Indulge in a cozy, decadent hot chocolate for chilly evenings.
Ingredients:
  • 625ml (2 1/2 cups) milk
  • 2.20 gm vanilla essence
  • Pinch ground nutmeg
  • 1 200g block milk chocolate, cut into small pieces
  • 8 Italian shortbread
Instructions:
  • Combine milk, vanilla essence, and nutmeg in a medium saucepan. Heat over low heat until almost boiling, about 6-8 minutes. In a small heat-resistant bowl, melt chocolate over simmering water, stirring frequently, until smooth, about 3-5 minutes. Whisk the melted chocolate into the milk mixture until smooth and combined. Serve hot chocolate in cups or heat-resistant glasses with shortbread on the side. Optional: use the microwave for melting the chocolate.
